Mount House is a new 10,000 sq ft replacement dwelling. Permission was granted for the demolition of a locally designated historic asset in the derelict house that occupied the site.
The challenge for this house was in that it was to be designed to address all aspects of the garden and has four active elevations, each connecting to views and aspects of the gardens and the wooded setting.
The design incorporates the latest in energy efficient design including ultra-efficient heat storage and energy reclamation systems. It is also one of the very few passive house standard projects built of all masonry construction in the country.
The house features a Chesneys cantilevered stone staircase, the tallest domestic stair they have manufactured to date.
