Pro Vision Ecology was commissioned to carry out bat, reptile and great crested newt surveys at North Ripley Farm in Bransgore, Hampshire. Construction of a new replacement residential house was proposed and ecological surveys were required to apply for planning permission with New Forest District Council.
Six different bat species were found roosting and foraging within the site along with barn owls and grass snakes.
Landscape enhancements introduced by Pro Vision Ecology for the protected species found on site included new native hedgerows acting as wildlife corridors, a reptile hibernaculum for hibernating reptiles and amphibians and brash piles for herptiles, mammals and other animals. A barn owl box along with features to encourage a range of bat species were built into a refurbished barn on site.
Planning permission was successfully granted and Natural England licences were also attained for this complicated proposal.
