Pro Vision Ecology was commissioned to provide a phase 1 ecological assessment of an existing dwelling and its curtilage at Plover Hill, Meonstoke.
The clients were keen to build a family home on land adjacent to the existing bungalow so they could live in their current house while the new one was being constructed. They came to Pro Vision Ecology after their initial planning application had been refused. A solution was needed to enable them to complete their dream home without breaching wildlife legislation.
The planning application had originally been refused on ecological grounds due to the potential impact on the Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). Pro Vision Ecology worked with the clients and with Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council to devise an appropriate scheme to protect and ensure minimal impact on the SINC.
These measures included protection of hydrology, suitable access to the site, the use of high visibility fencing, dust control and procurement of appropriate materials.
